 | For our last class of the session the adult students traveled to an historic one-room schoolhouse. The Dillingersville School was established in 1735, and the stone schoolhouse that still stands today (the fourth on the property) was built in 1885. |
Thanks to Janet Wetzel (one of the students) we were able to spend the morning exploring this little gem of a building. Janet is on the school’s board of directors. The board’s efforts have renovated the Dillingersville School and made it available for school groups and others to enjoy.
| We found some great things to draw in the schoolhouse, including a beautiful old pot-bellied stove and a copper-framed kerosene hanging light with etched glass globes. One of the ladies settled on one of the old school desk benches to draw a charming corner vignette of bookshelves (and the dunce stool!) |  |

Another student braved drawing the school’s exterior from a roadside folding chair. There wasn’t enough time to finish all the drawings, but I took lots of photos for the students to work from at home.
