Today - February 19th- is the start of the Chinese New Year, the most important holiday in the Chinese calendar. 2015 is The Year of the Goat, but you may see it referred to as The Year of the Sheep too. That's because the Chinese character yang can translate as goat or sheep. The students at Blue Church Art celebrated Chinese New Year 2015 by creating some very cool artwork. |

Another student brought delicious red bean Mochi cake (nian gao) made by her mother ~ a very special and DELICIOUS treat! I was also given a pretty paper envelope containing a lucky Chinese coin. The coin has a square hole in the middle, representing both heaven (the circle) and earth (the square). I hope it's really a lucky coin. |
